Saturday 11 January 2025 - 11am - 4pm
Venue: Reading Museum
What:
A creative writing workshop in response to the exhibition Art Stories.
Join acclaimed poet and teacher Lesley Saunders for a workshop on story-telling in poetic form. Curator Elaine Blake will introduce us to the exhibition, and we will discuss how narrative poetry can grip us as strongly as a novel.
We will look at various forms of story-telling in poetry, from action-packed epic to tragic romance, from re-worked myths and legends to morality-tales and dream-visions, and from traditional tropes to quasi-lyrical non-linear experiments.
There will then be plenty of time to work individually and to compose a piece of writing of your own.
Please bring materials to write on and with.
