An introduction to the history of Katesgrove as told through objects on display in the Story of Reading Gallery at Reading Museum. Evelyn Williams of the Whitley Pump blog will give a short talk followed by a guided tour of the gallery to see artefacts that illustrate the history of Katesgrove from Roman to modern times.

The tour starts with the brass lamp used at the Reading Hindu Temple at the top of Whitley Street which is displayed in the dramatic new centrepiece to the gallery. Other exhibits include those relating to industrial heritage from medieval times to the twentieth century and the fashionable cultural scene on London Street in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries.
