Interwoven Tales: Embracing Diversity in Diaspora

Saturday 7 September to Sunday 15 September

Venue: The Turbine House Riverside Museum at Blake’s Lock

A Group Exhibition Featuring Artworks by Refugees and Asylum Seekers

The exhibition will be on display between 7-15 September, with special activity for all on 7-8 and 14-15 September, from 10:30am to 5pm.

Artist Or Williams in association with Refugee Support Group present a captivating group exhibition that opens to the public during Heritage Open Days

"Interwoven Tales" delves into the rich tapestry of human experiences in displacement. Set against the backdrop of diaspora, each embroidered piece serves as a testament to the unique touch of feeling and experience brought forth by its creator. Collectively, these works form a powerful narrative of resilience, unity, and hope. From the initial stitch to the final flourish, "Interwoven Tales" invites viewers to engage in a dialogue that transcends boundaries of language, culture, and geography.

In addition to the exhibition, guided embroidery workshops will be available to the public. The artworks produced in these workshops will be added to an interactive, organically growing communal artwork displayed on-site, further enriching the collective story of the exhibition.

Join us in celebrating the diverse voices and stories of refugees and asylum seekers through the intricate art of embroidery.

“The Power of Embroidery” is a yearlong project, funded by Arts Council England.
