Embroidery, poetry and book-making - some of the Art in the Dark Months workshops

Embroidery, poetry and book-making - some of the Art in the Dark Months workshops

Calling all writers and artists - and anyone who likes art in action! Once again we are welcoming in the New Year with a programme of high quality workshops and events for creative adults: Art in the Dark Months 2017.

Workshops this year include bookmaking, poetry writing, textile handling, working in mixed media, and a masterclass with Ray Atkins. All the workshops are loosely related to the Ray Atkins: The Reading Years exhibition which opens on Saturday 28 January. So, put that New Year resolution into action to be more creative: come out of your studios and your kitchens, move away from your screens and put down your gadgets - get colour back into your lives and enjoy yourselves in informal surroundings and supportive company. Follow the links below for details of the activities and how to book.

Bring your family along to the Reading Guild of Artists slam sale with demonstrations and family art activities on Saturday 11 February.

You may also enjoy the Friends of Reading Museum annual lecture on Saturday 25 February about a notable nineteenth century Reading art collector, his obsession with a Velasquez portrait and the effect of both on art critic Laura Cumming.
